Home Town: San Diego born and raised!

Sports as a Kid/HS: From ages 3-15, it was all about ballet, then Cheerleading!

Certifications: CrossFit L3, CrossFit Kids, CrossFit Mobility, RYT - 500hr, NASM - CPT and Nutrition Specialist.

When did you fall in love with CrossFit? I was a yoga instructor working on handstands and my gymnastics teacher said to try CrossFit. One workout and I was sold! It had everything.

Favorite place to eat in San Diego: Love a good breakfast spot like Broken Yoke or Breakfast Republic in PB.

Favorite movement: Overhead squat and handstands.

Least favorite movement: Thrusters and max height box jumps.

How do you Stay Classy? I Stay Classy by helping our community members but inside and outside of the gym, to feel accepted, supported and cared for both as and athlete and individual.

Rachel Vangstad

Home Town: Berkeley, CA but grew up in the Pacific Northwest, outside of Seattle.

Sports as a Kid/HS: No sports but rode horses competitively.

Certifications: CrossFit L2

When did you fall in love with CrossFit? My friend who I would run 1/2 marathons with brought me to a class and knew my competitive nature would love it and she was right! Fall in love moment was when I realized being strong was sexy and I felt more at home in my skin.

Favorite place to eat in San Diego: LOVE tacos from Lola 55 and rice bowls from White Rice.

Favorite movement: Handstand walk or anything gymnastics related.

Least favorite movement: Running and the THRUSTER.

How do you Stay Classy? I Stay Classy by staying true to ME. I truly love being a part of such a committed and unique community and feel the joy in my bones when we are thriving!

When did you fall in love with CrossFit? 2009 I went in for a consult, did the baseline WOD in the middle of Houston summer, and was immediately sold. One workout in and I was in love.

Favorite place to eat in San Diego? Too many to pick just one! Some of my faves are Ki's, Waverly, Monarch, Fig Tree Cafe, The Presley, Pacific Coast Grill, Fish 101

Favorite movement? HSPU and power cleans

Least favorite movement? Front squats and assault bike

How do you Stay Classy? Remaining true to my passion and purpose in life by helping empower others onto living their strongest, healthiest, happiest lives possible.

When did you fall in love with CrossFit? 2012 – Specifically Elisabeth Akinwale, I was in awe of her strength and grit.

Favorite place to eat in San Diego: Cross Street Chicken, hands down THE best chicken tendies in all of SD! 

Favorite movement: Anything over head or Bar Muscle Ups.

Least favorite movement: Deadlifts
